Trending: Seeing and Developing Patterns in Your Quilting Practice
Trunk Show/Lecture
Approximately 45-60 minutes
$350
How do you develop a quilting style? Do you even need to? What elements of your quilting come together to make your personal aesthetic? Inspiration sources, color choices, shapes, and quilting style all play a role in making our quilts a reflection of who we are. Throughout this trunk show, you will see the recurring motifs and patterns in my quilts, how these patterns create a body of work, and start recognizing the trends in your own quilts. This is an excellent trunk show choice for Modern groups and guilds.

Beyond Color: The Other Elements of Design
Lecture
Approximately 40-60 minutes
$350
Did you know that most art schools have students work in greyscale for months before they add in the element of color? Color is perhaps the strongest design aspect used by quilters, but our work is best when we consider all elements of design and how they work together. In this lecture we will look at the role line, texture, shape, and space play in creating dynamic designs regardless of how much or little color is used in the final product. Creative challenges and prompts scattered throughout the lecture will leave you inspired to try new design techniques!
Stashed! Developing a Stash that Works with Your Quilting Style
Lecture
Approximately 40-60 minutes
$350
If you have been a quilter for very long, there is a good chance that you have a stash of fabric somewhere in your sewing space. Over time many quilters start to see their stash as a source of guilt. I see my stash as a source of inspiration, and I want you to see yours that way too! We will identify and discuss quilting styles and how that relates to building a working palette of fabric. This is not a class that pressures you to get rid of fabric you love or offer dozens of projects to quickly use up your stash (you’ve seen lots of those!) This is about building a functional and inspiring collection of fabric that works with how you quilt!
On the Wild Side: Foundation Paper Piecing Animals and Other Irregular Shapes
Lecture/Demo
Approximately 60-75 minutes
$400
Foundation Paper Piecing makes for extremely accurate piecing and perfect points, but one of its most exciting uses is the creation of blocks using irregularly shaped components. During this lecture/demo you will get a backstage tour of how a designer translates a photograph into a foundation paper pieced design before learning tons of techniques, tips, and tricks to make foundation paper piecing fun! By the end of this class you will be excited to jump into your next FPP project with the tools you need to streamline the sewing process and make the best use of your fabrics.
This is a perfect pairing for shops participating in the Aurifil Color Builders Endangered Species Block of the Month Program!

A PDF version of the pattern is included with the workshop. Participants are responsible for printing the required templates prior to class.
Sewing with Slivers

Hand Accented
This class is available as a 3 or 6 hour workshop
Combine hand and machine quilting to achieve the distinctive design and texture of hand work in a fraction of the time. In this class we will start by using a walking foot to machine quilt the pre-printed panel or fabric of your choice. The hand stitching fun will start with a running stitch. Then we will take our quilting further by exploring embroidery stitches that are conducive to quilting. A variety of thread colors and weights will be incorporated into your project.
