Class Description

Create a mini quilt where matchstick quilting is the star! Dense straight line quilting creates a unique texture and can be used to infuse color into your quilts. By mixing your thread weights, you can take your quilting to the next level. In this class you will use colorful thread in multiple weights to create a quilt that will work as a wallhanging or a pillow top. Students may choose to purchase a pre-printed panel or use their own whole cloth or pieced mini quilt top for this class.

Supply List

Optional kits are available below

Pre-printed panel from Spoonflower OR a solid piece of fabric
22” Square of fabric for the back of the quilt sandwich
20” Square of batting (cotton or cotton/poly blend preferred)
Safety pins for basting (no spray basting please)
Basic sewing kit with small scissors/snips and a writing implement
Fabric pen that will mark on your chosen fabric for the quilt top (if not purchasing the pre-printed panel)
Masking tape (any width) If available, I suggest having 1” and 1/2” wide tape available
Thread that contrasts (in an aesthetically pleasing way) with your quilt top
2 Spools of Color 1: One large spool 12 weight, one small spool 50 weight
2 Spools of Color 2: One small spool 28 weight, one small spool 50 weight
1 Spool (small) of 50 wt thread that blends with the quilt top
Machine Needle: Topstitch 14 for domestic machines
Spiral Eye Needle (optional)
