Skinny Inserts with Precision Class Information

Class Description:
Have you ever wondered how some quilters piece 1/8” wide slivers into their designs? It isn’t as challenging as it looks once you know a few key tips and techniques. This workshop covers how to piece 1/8” wide components while avoiding unwanted shadowing in your pieced seam allowances. Students will then work on incorporating this precision piecing technique into an improvisational design. Sewing machines generously provided by event sponsors!
Workshop Supplies:
Required Supplies
Approximately one yard of fabric in at least two colors. You can bring yardage, fat quarters, scraps, or a mix. Choose mostly standard quilting weight fabrics, but you can include some non-quilting fabrics such and linen or silk to experiment with if desired. If you are using scraps, narrow strips need to be at least 1″ wide. Larger areas are no less than 2″ wide. Please DO NOT cut anything prior to class!
Add-Three-Eighths Ruler (available for purchase below) is required to streamline the cutting and piecing process.
Optional Supplies
Add-an-Eighth Ruler (available for purchase with the Add-Three-Eighths ruler) is used in the technique used to reduce shadowing and is optional, but recommended.
If desired, you can choose to bring a very small rotary cutting mat and rotary cutter with you to have near your machine. This is NOT REQUIRED and may be used only if space permits.
