Who’s excited about QuiltCon 2022?! I am thrilled to be teaching three workshops and two lectures at the big event, and I’m telling you a little bit about each one in the weeks leading up to the start of class registration. Member registration opens August 4, 2021 at 10am Eastern time, and non-members can sign up starting August 19, 2021 at 10am Eastern.
Hand Accented teaches the basics of combining machine and hand quilting to create a dynamic visual and tactile experience with your quilts.
This class focuses on hand quilting techniques, and there will be no machine quilting in class. To account for this, you can either purchase the class kit that includes a pre-machine quilted panel as well as all of threads and hand quilting supplies needed for the class (this is definitely the easiest option!) or bring your own fat-quarter sized quilt sandwich that has already been lightly machine quilted with straight lines. Detailed instructions for class prep and kit pre-orders will be available later this year.
Class Description:
Combine hand and machine quilting to achieve the distinctive design and texture of handwork in a fraction of the time. In this class, you will start with a hand running stitch on a fabric panel that has been machine quilted. Then you will go a step further by exploring embroidery stitches that are conducive to quilting. A variety of thread colors and weights will be incorporated into your project.
Dates, Times, and Class Numbers:
There are two sessions of Hand Accented scheduled for this QuiltCon, one Friday afternoon and the other Saturday morning. You can locate the class by searching for the workshop number in the QuiltCon Catalog. You can also look at listings by instructor and type of workshop. This is a Hand Quilting Workshop.
