QuiltCon 2026 in Pictures

February 20, 2026

The largest annual modern quilting event is underway in Raleigh, North Carolina, this weekend, and there is so much to see! I’m not sure if I’ll ever truly soak it all in, but today, let’s take a look at just a sliver of what the show floor looked like on opening day.

The vendor mall was packed for the majority of opening day.

Contest Quilts

Most of the quilts at the show are juried into the contest and judged prior to the show.

Top Award Winners

The quilts winning the largest prizes are easiest to get close to at the end of the day.

Visiting My Quilts

Finding quilts, whether your own or a friends is always fun! Here are my quilts along with some of their textile neighbors.

Utah Overlook caught a lot of people’s attention.
Mocha Mousse Mountain is in the small quilt category.
Where the Wild Quilts Are is across the aisle from my friend Steph Skardal’s quilt.

Special Exhibits

The Quilts of Hillary Goodwin

Hillary Goodwin is the featured speaker at QuiltCon this year.
Each year, the featured speaker has an exhibit of their quilts.

Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy

The Freedom Quilting Bee and Gee’s Bend Quilters have a large special exhibit.

I thought your quilts were some of the best in the show, especially in terms of excellent technique. I can see that MQG has priorities other than perfect technique, but I really admired your entries.

I feel like not enough people were excited about the Gee’s Bend Legacy quilt that used pieces of a literal basketball in it!!
