Piecing Full Circles Class Information
Workshop Description
Take your curved seams to the extreme by going full circle! Piecing full circles opens many piecing and fussy cutting opportunities in quilt design. During this workshop, students will use the Classic Curves Ruler to cut and machine-piece complete circles. Students will then create a top for a pillow or mini quilt top that incorporates at least one full circle. Sewing machines generously provided by event sponsors!
Class Supplies
Please bring the following supplies to class:
- 6-8 pieces of fabric, fat quarter size or larger (Most people like at lease one background piece that is at least 20″ square, but all fat quarters will work if that is what you have for the class)
- The Classic Curves Ruler OR the Classic Curves PLUS Ruler (Please carefully read the information below)
- A basic sewing kit with small scissor or snips, seam ripper, straight pins, removable fabric pen/pencil, etc.
The Classic Curves Ruler
The Classic Curves Ruler OR the Classic Curves Plus Ruler is required for this class. There are other rulers on the market to create curves, but this class is intended ONLY for the Classic Curves Rulers.
If you need to purchase the ruler
All pre-ordered class supplies are delivered in person at the beginning of class!
Make sure you purchase the 2023 updated version of the ruler! The Classic Curves Ruler was recently updated with a new, easier method for cutting full circles, and it is ideal for this class. It also has a non-slip texture on the back, which is extremely helpful.
The new version isn’t in most stores yet, so I suggest purchasing it from me to have it delivered during class or directly from the developer, Color Girl Quilts.
If you already own the ruler
You do not need to purchase a new version unless you want to (the update is pretty great). This is the ruler I originally used to develop this class, so it works well. The instructions for this ruler are different than the methods used in the updated version, but we will go over both during class if anyone has an older version of the ruler.
