It’s time to wrap up 2023 with a bow! Here are some of my quilting highlights in case you missed them along the way.
BERNINA Ambassador
My time as a BERNINA Ambassador kicked off with in person training at the US headquarters near Chicago, Illinois in January. I received by BERNINA 770QE PLUS a few weeks later, and I have had a great time using the upgraded features I had never had before.
As part of the ambassadorship, I have been writing for the blog, including this popular post on creating 1/8″ wide pieced sliver inserts.
Quilt Show Wins to Start the Year
Road to California
January also brought an awesome surprise- my quilt, Emergence, received third place in the abstract category at Road to California.
QuiltCon
Then in February, Where We Connect received third place in the Appliqué Category at QuiltCon!
A Magazine Article
QuiltCon Magazine for 2023 also included an article I wrote on building your stash in a way that works with your personal quilting style.
My Favorite Quilt of 2023: 100 Days of Greenery
In the first 100 days of the year I created the Quilt Top for 100 Days of Greenery, and later in the year I got around to quilting it. This appliqué project is my personal favorite for 2023, and I’m looking forward to doing mor appliqué in 2024.
Check out the design process for the quilt.
And then see the finished version of 100 Days of Greenery.
Quilt Concert
Lovingly Lissa and I teamed up to create the third annual Quilt Concert, Twinkle Twinkle. Each week during the Summer, we released a new, free block for the week. There were lots of awesome prizes along the way, and by the end of August everyone had a quilt top!
Quilt Block Mania
Quilt Block Mania is a program with free themed quilt blocks offered each month by participating bloggers. I participated four months this year, and my blocks are still available for free through the end of 2023. After that, they will be available for purchase.
- Double Scoop of Ice Cream in a Cake Cone
- Building Connections
- Floral Quilt Block
- Friendship Quilt Block
The Big Mid-Year Pivot
Space has gotten tighter in recent years as I have started to include fabric bundles, class kits, and print patterns as part of my business, so this Summer and Autumn the major focus was on adding a new building.
My First Vendor Booth
I took a big leap in September by doing my first vendor booth at the Great Wisconsin Quilt Show!
Quilts for Upcoming Shows
Where We Connect is heading to Road to California, followed by the AQS Quilt Week in Daytona Beach. The quilts below are starting their show appearances with QuiltCon in February.
Looking Forward to Next Year…
Next week I’ll talk about goals for 2024, but my primary objective is to streamline my approach to balance the need to make a living with the joy of an artistic practice. More on that next week!
